Mrs. Bobbie King
Bobbie King is a graduate of Evangel University in Springfield Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. Following graduation, she was employed by the Missouri Department of Social Services as a Children’s Service Worker, where she carried a caseload of abused and neglected children and their families, as well as investigated alleged abuse and neglect. In 2001, Bobbie began working at Lee’s Summit Academy as the School Social Worker, before becoming the principal in 2006. As Principal at Lee’s Summit Academy her goal is providing students with the best environment possible to learn and be academically proficient.
Ms. Suzy Bybee
Vice Principal and Teacher
Suzy Bybee has been teaching for 44 years in the private and public sector. She has her Master’s degree as well as 30+ hours of post graduate work. Teaching mainly social studies, language arts, speech and drama, working at LSA is a dream come true.
Mrs. Michele Augustine
Michele began working at LSA in 2005, with experience in data entry and book keeping. Her jobs include: receptionist, registrar and finance administrator. Having the opportunity to be part of such an amazing group of teachers and students is part of what makes Michele an amazing addition to LSA.
Vocal and Instrumental Music Teacher
Deb is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Music with teacher certification. She has taught in the public-school setting for 12 years; in private school 7years; and in private studio for 35years. Deb’s husband is a public-school administrator with the Independence School District.
Ms. Becky Oberg
Becky is the Kindergarten and 1st grade teacher. Graduated with a BS degree in Early Childhood Education from UW Stout in Menomonie WI, she is certified to teach Birth through 3rd Grade. She has been teaching Kindergarten and first graders for over 14 years, and is privileged to watch students grow and change into successful members of our community.
Mrs. Anita Charczenko
Anita has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Elementary Counseling from Louisiana Tech University. She has over 30 years of experience working in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Karen DeHaven
4th and 5th Grade Teacher
Karen DeHaven has a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Economics and Management/Rehabilitation from the University of Missouri. She has been an Elementary teacher for 9 years; she was a field coordinator for a Foster Grandparent Program in a social services position for 9 years; she spent 4 years as a teaching counselor for Tomorrow’s Hope as a live in staff member; and she is an Independent Living Skill instructor. With a wealth of experience in a variety of fields and varying age groups, her well-rounded, professionalism is an asset to our students and faculty alike.
Ms. Brooke Pebworth
4th and 5th Grade Teacher
Brooke Pebworth attended Lee’s summit academy from 2nd grade through
12th grade. She then went on to study early childhood and Elementary education at Evangel University where she graduated with her Bachelors. She has worked in the Libby Lane Preschool throughout college when she was home and full time for a year and a half after she graduated. She now teaches 4th and 5th grade along with Mrs. DeHaven.
Mr. Hunter Driscoll
Middle School PE
Hunter was a four time state qualifying athlete for track and field and cross country during high school. After graduating high school Hunter attended the local Iowa Western CC. Hunter moved to the Kansas City area in 2014 where he received a bachelor's degree as valedictorian. Hunter is an instructor for the middle school P.E. program. Desiring to see students physical fit and be equipped for the future motivates Hunter to passionately draw out the potential in every child.
Mrs. Caila Driscoll
A third-year valedictorian graduate of the Bachelors Program at World Revival School of Ministry. Her heart is to equip and encourage children of all ages to live life with God to the fullest. Caila knew from a young age she wanted to live and give back to the Lee's Summit community and be committed to the lives of people around her. Being involved in teaching children at Lee's Summit Academy has fulfilled this dream.
Mrs. Amy Schmidt
As a native of Kansas City, Amy earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from William Jewell College, after which she taught second grade for two years in the North Kansas City School District. She has had a passion to teach since a young age, and loves being able to pour into the students at LSA.
Mr. Aaron Lage
High School PE
Aaron serves as the School Administrator at the Revival Training Center in Kansas City, MO along with teaching several Bible Courses as an instructor there. Also serving as the High School teacher for Physical Education he concentrates on attitude and participation over talent. He's always had a personal interest in physical fitness and enjoys sports of all kinds.
Mrs. Jill Koppang
MS/HS Science, Bible, and Honors Program Coordinator
Jill Koppang has been an educator for 17 years. She received Bachelors of Science Degree in Education with a minor in Science and Math from the University of Central Missouri. For more than ten years, Jill has taught many grade levels at LSA ranging from 2nd grade to upper level high school Science. She resides in Lee’s Summit, MO with her husband of seventeen years and her four sons. Jill’s enthusiasm for science has led her to teach the Middle School and High School Science classes.
Mrs. Megan Ingala
K-3 General Music
Megan has a bachelors degree and over 60 credit hours in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University. She has taught elementary music at Lees Summit Academy since 2011.
Ms. Becky Hill
Becky Hill has taught Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Accounting, Computer Programming, Kinesiology and Forensics at Lee’s Summit Academy for 12 years. She graduated from State Fair Community College with an Associate of Arts in Psychology in 1984, and then returned to school in 1991 to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy. She graduated cum laude with a BHS in Occupational Therapy in 1994 from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is licensed in the state of Missouri. She worked as an occupational therapist with an emphasis in hand therapy and industrial rehab for 14 years prior to leaving that profession to do what she had always dreamed of doing teaching. Ms. Hill loves math and the challenge of instilling the love of math in her students.
Mrs. Monica Sorenson
Elementary Gym, Art, Pottery, and Sculpting
With a Missouri teaching license degree in Early Childhood Education. Monica has been teaching for 20 years now in the public school. In addition to teaching she tutors elementary students on the side for extra help in reading and math.
Ms. Carole Hawkins
Middle school English/Newspaper
Carole has been teaching for over 17 years. She has a diploma from West Philadelphia High school and attended Burlington County College in New Jersey. With 15 years as a English and Language Arts teacher for both Middle and High School students, Carole is well versed in the subject matter that she teaches. Additionally, she has 2 years as a Physical Education teacher, for Elementary, Middle and High school level, so her experience outweighs her educational degrees which makes her an up to date asset for our Academy.
